Esgic is a non-narcotic pain reliever and relaxant, which gives immediate relief from headache. It consists of caffeine, butalbital and acetaminophen. Butalbital is a sedative barbiturate while acetaminophen is a non-aspirin pain reliever. Take the dose of Esgic in exactly the same way as prescribed by your health care provider. Overdose of Esgic can create plenty of problems for you.

If you are allergic to caffeine, barbiturates and acetaminophen, you should not take the dose of Esgic. It is worth mentioning in this regard that barbiturates slow the central nervous system. Individuals with an inherited metabolic disorder that mainly affects bone marrow should also stay away from Esgic. Avoid alcohol when using Esgic. Pregnant women should not take Esgic, as it can affect a developing baby.

You should not take more than two or three Esgic tablets per day. Take the dose of Esgic after every three or four hours. The effectiveness of Esgic on children under 12 years of age has not been established as yet, so it is advisable that you do not give the dose of Esgic to them. Older people can experience depression and confusion when using Esgic. If you are not happy with the results of Esgic, consult your health care provider immediately and modify your dosage.
