Sonata is basically a central nervous system depressant. It is used in the treatment of insomnia. You can only get Sonata when your health care provider has prescribed it. There are two main forms of Sonata, namely, oral and capsules.
Before start using Sonata, tell your health care provider clearly whether you are allergic to dyes, foods and preservatives. Pregnant women should not take the dose of Sonata, as it can turn out to be harmful for unborn baby. With no studies being conducted on children regarding the effectiveness of Sonata, children below the age of 18 should not be given a dose of Sonata. Elderly patients should also stay away from Sonata. Avoid alcohol when using Sonata. Overdose of Sonata can cause serious side effects; therefore it is quite important that you take the dose of Sonata in exactly the same way as prescribed by your health care provider. Generally speaking, you should take the dose of Sonata when you are all set to go to bed. The beauty of Sonata is that it acts pretty fast to put you to sleep. If your schedule is bit tight, do not use Sonata because if you wake up in say three or four hours time, you will feel drowsy and may also experience memory issues.
You can take the dose of Sonata with or without food but it is advisable that you take it without food. Point to be noted here is that taking Sonata after a heavy meal will hamper its effectiveness. Some of the common side effects of Sonata are anxiety, dizziness, weak muscle tone and difficulty in breathing.
