About Zocor: Review of Zocor and how it helps in lowering cholesterol

Zocor is a cholesterol-lowering drug whose main job is to block the production of cholesterol in your body. Apart from lowering total cholesterol in the blood, Zocor also has an ability to lower low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol. If you manage to reduce your cholesterol level, you can also prevent stroke, vascular disease and heart attack.

In some cases, use of Zocor can lead to breakdown of skeletal muscle tissue. If you are feeling muscle weakness, consult your health care provider immediately. Pregnant women should not use Zocor, as it can cause birth defects in an unborn baby. People suffering with liver disease, diabetes, kidney disease and blood disorder are also advisable not to take Zocor. Before start using Zocor, make sure that you tell your health care provider about all the prescription and over-the-counter drugs that you are presently taking. If you are allergic to simvastatin, use of Zocor is not recommended. Take the dosage of Zocor on a daily basis, as prescribed by your health care provider. In an ideal scenario, you should take Zocor after a dinner.

If you want to take multiple dosage of Zocor, take it after eating something. Test your liver and blood regularly in order to get the clear picture of whether Zocor is helping you in lowering cholesterol level or not. To get the best results from Zocor, you need to take it on a long-term basis. For example, using Zocor for a period of five year will be more effective rather than using it for just one or two year.
