How Bupropion Functions
Role
of Bupropion
Some people suffer from depression,
and this makes their everyday
lives difficult. Bupropion is
an antidepressant that can get
rid of depression and all its
symptoms. Doctors commonly prescribe
Bupropion for treating depression
and other kinds of problems
as well.
While taking Bupropion, you
need to follow instructions
carefully. If your doctor has
prescribed it for you, you need
to follow his or her instructions
carefully.
You should take Bupropion with
a full glass of water. You may
take it with food or without
it.
You have to make sure that you
take Bupropion as a whole pill;
do not crush it or break it.
This is because you need to
allow the pill to work according
to what it has been designed
for. Bupropion pills are designed
in order to gradually release
the contents. Breaking or crushing
the ill ruins these effects,
and as a result, you may not
experience the maximum benefits
of it all.
Side
Effects
Side effects are not that common
while using Bupropion HCL. However,
you need to report any kinds
of changes you experience when
consuming this medication. Side
effects might include:
• seizures;
• irregular heartbeats;
• allergic symptoms that
may include:
breathing problems,
closing of the throat,
swelling of any part of the
face.
• hives.
Precautions:
You need to avoid consuming
alcoholic beverages when taking
Bupropion. It is known that
alcohol increases the chances
of you having a seizure when
you are on Bupropion. If you
take a lot of alcohol regularly,
you need to discuss it with
your doctor.
You are advised not to drive
when you are taking Bupropion
because of the chances of you
losing control. Bupropion is
known to cause drowsiness and
it is unadvisable for you to
drive or even handle heavy machinery
or engage in activities that
require your full concentration.
Avoid getting up from a sitting
or lying position as well, as
this often makes you dizzy when
on Bupropion.
You need to be aware of particular
medications that you have been
taking in the pat 15 days or
so. This is because of the fact
that they might interact with
Bupropion. You should particularly
be aware of Monoamine Oxidase
Inhibitor (MAOI). Medications
of this category include:
• phenelzine (Nardil),
• tranylcypromine (Parnate)
• isocarboxazid (Marplan),
Avoid missing out on doses.
If you happen to miss out on
a dose, you should not try and
make up for it. You should skip
the missed dose altogether,
and move on to the next scheduled
dose.
Bupropion is safe to use during
pregnancy. However, it is better
for you to consult your doctor
first if you are pregnant or
even if you are planning to
have a child. |
