Butalbital is a pain reliever
that caters to relieving pain
in areas of the body such as
the neck, head and shoulders.
Butalbital is by no means a
narcotic, and has the ability

caused by the contraction of
muscles.
It is known that Butalbital
joins together a barbiturate
with caffeine and acetaminophen.
It is because Butalbital contains
acetaminophen that it has the
ability to suppress fever and
pain. Nerve and brain signals
are slowed down, thereby diminishing
the amount of pain you experience.
Since Butalbital is considered
as a barbiturate and contains
caffeine, it is assumed that
blood vessels are constricted
through it. It is assumed that
when blood vessels are constricted,
the high blood flow that might
cause head aches is curtailed.
You should only take Butalbital
according to a prescription.
You should never exceed the
recommended dosage.
You could take Butalbital
along with water, milk or food,
and it can be taken in order
to settle an upset stomach.

Side Effects:
Side effects that may be experienced
while taking Butalbital include:

side effects include:

• nervousness,
• itching;
• drowsiness/dizziness,
• confusion
• nausea,
• vomiting,
• abdominal pain,
• headache;
• constipation.
If any of the above side effects
continues for a prolonged period,
you should report them to a
doctor.
Precautions:
You need to be careful when
on Butalbital: you should drive
of handle heavy machinery or
engage in any activity that
may put you at risk. This is
because of the fact that this
medication can make you drowsy
and cause you to lose your concentration.
While taking Butalbital, you
should avoid antihistamines,
sleeping pills, sedatives, and
tranquilizers. You may only
take these if your doctor permits
you to.
If you have taken any of the
following within the past 14
days or so, you are advised
not to take Butalbital:
Monoamine Oxidase inhibitor
(MAOI) like:
• tranylcypromine (Parnate),
• isocarboxazid (Marplan),
• phenelzine (Nardil),
If you happen to miss out on
a dose, do not try to make up
for it. You should not try and
double dose. It is recommended
that you leave out the dose
you have missed and move on
to the next scheduled dose.
