On the technical level, Flexeril works in order to relieve spasms in skeletal muscles. It targets the original area without obstructing or interfering with muscular function in any way. Flexeril is believed to be ineffective when there are muscular spasms caused by diseases that are related to the central nervous system. In Flexeril, the chief ingredient has been known to effectively reduce muscle spasms in skeletal muscles. It has also been further discovered that Flexeril does not target the neuromuscular junction. Breast feeding is another concern; it is not certain whether or not Flexeril ingredients get into the milk. It is however known that Tricyclic antidepressants are quite similar to Flexeril; Tricyclic is known to get into breast milk, which makes it very possible that Flexeril can act the same way. You should not use particular drugs along with Flexeril because they may interact with them. If you are using any form of medication, it is a good idea for you to inform your doctor first before taking Flexeril. Avoiding alcohol consumption and substances that contain alcohol is also a good idea.
It is known that a seriously harmful reaction can take place when using Flexeril, if you happen to also be using antidepressants containing MAO inhibitors. Nardil and Parnate are prime examples of these. You need to be off such medications for more than two weeks before you begin taking Flexeril. You also need to inform your doctor if you have been taking barbiturates like phenobarbital Guanethidine and other medications for blood pressure.
These are known to slow the central nervous system down. Halcion and Xanax Tramadol (Ultram) are prime examples of these. You need to stick to your dosage schedule. If you happen to miss out on a dose, you should not try and make up for it. Instead leave it out and go to the next dose. |
