How Nasacort Works ?

How Nasacort Functions

Nasal problems are common and there are few medications that are used o treat them. Nasacort is one of these medications, and has proved to be a successful one. It is a nasal steroid that works towards getting inflammation down in your nasal passage. Nasacort helps to suppress nasal congestion, a runny nose, itching, postnasal drip, and sneezing. Particularly, people suffering from rhinitis or those who have had rhinitis are treated with Nasacort.

Dosage:

You need to first of all know how to use the Nasacort nasal spray and adaptor. In order to do so you need to ask your doctor; s/he would be the best judge of how you are using it. You need to blow your nasal tract to make sure the passage is clear before using the medicine. Clearing the passage means that the medicine will reach the intended tissue. If the passage is not cleared properly, you may need to use a nasal decongestant before you apply the Nasacort medication. Also, make sure you shake the container up before you use it each time.

For Nasacort to be effective, you need to give it a few days to produce any significant results. However, after using Nasacort for a few days and do not see any results, you should talk to your doctor about it.
You need to be careful when using Nasacort if you have had any injuries.

Side Effects:

Some of the side effects of using Nasacort include:

  • sneezing,
  • lightheadedness,
  • irritation,
  • headache,
  • stinging,
  • burning,
  • dryness of the nasal passages,
  • nosebleed,
  • loss of taste,
  • throat irritation,
  • nausea.

If these side effects persist you should inform your doctor.

The following are some rare side effects that require instant attention:

  • persistent nose irritation/soreness,
  • fainting,
  • throat irritation/soreness,
  • weight loss,
  • white patchy areas,
  • broken or damaged nasal membranes,
  • nausea/vomiting,
  • dizziness,
  • unusual weakness,
  • vision changes.

In addition to the above mentioned side effects, you are advised to report any side effect to your doctor. This is because you may not know if it is a severe side effect or not. Tell your doctor about any side effects you experience that are not listed here.

Precautions:

You should tell your doctor about any medications that you are taking. This is because there could be interactions between Nasacort and other types of treatment you might be on.
You should note that using other forms of nasal treatment along with Nasacort could increase the chances of you experiencing side effects. Your doses may also be too high.

You should not miss out on doses. If you happen to miss out on a dose, do not try to make up for it by taking a double dose. Simply move on to the next dose and forget about the missed dose.
