Role
of Nordette 28
Nordette 28 is an oral contraceptive
or a birth control pill. It contains
two active ingredients, levonorgestrel
and ethinyl estradiol which are similar
to the hormones estrogen and progestin.
This drug works by preventing the
process of ovulation or the release
of eggs from the ovaries. It is also
used to treat symptoms of menopause
and regulate a woman’s menstrual
cycle.
Nordette has also been reported to
have the following beneficial effects:
a reduction in iron-deficiency or
anemia; a reduction in the risk of
endometrial carcinoma (cancer); a
reduction in the occurrence of ovarian
cysts; a reduction in the incidence
of primary dysmenorrhoea; a reduction
in the occurrence of ovarian carcinoma
(cancer) and a reduction in the incidence
of benign breast lesions.
It is important to take Nordette
28 exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
Take the first pill on the first Sunday
after your period begins, unless directed
otherwise. Take one pill every day,
after every 24 hours. By taking Nordette
28 at night, it may help reduce the
symptoms of nausea or headaches. If
you are on a 28-day cycle, take one
pill every day.
The 28-day cycle also contains seven
pills that are either placebos or
iron supplements. These are meant
to keep you on your regular menstrual
cycle and are to be taken during your
period. If you miss a dose take it
as soon as possible, then take your
next dose at your regular time. This
means that you can take 2 doses in
one day. If you miss more than 1 dose
of Nordette 28 contact your doctor.
