How Soma Functions
Roll of Soma
Muscle spasms may be caused
by injuries to skeletal muscles.
Soma is a medication that is
used to treat such conditions.
It works on the principle of
inhibiting nerve signals. By
preventing the flow of nerve
impulses to the brain, sensations
and pain are reduced. The main
substance that helps make this
possible in Soma is Codeine;
it comes under the category
of drugs called narcotic analgesics.
Soma may be used along with
rest and physical therapy, and
produces the best effects when
applied together.
You are advised to consume a
full glass of water along with
each dose of Soma. You are not
advised to exceed a maximum
of 1,400 mg (4 tablets) per
day.

you need to worry about include:

Precautions
You need to tell your doctor
about any diseases that you
have suffered from or are suffering
from:
• kidney disease,
• hypothyroidism,
• blood or clotting disorder,
• a head injury,
• liver disease,
• stomach or intestinal
ulcer,
• urinary retention,
• enlarged prostate,
• Addison's disease.
If you have had or are having
the illnesses mentioned above,
probably a milder dose of Soma
will be recommended for you.
You need to consult your doctor
if you are pregnant or intend
on becoming pregnant. Breast
feeding mothers should also
consult their doctors.
Soma is not meant for individuals
below the age of 12.
In order to avoid interactions
with Soma, you should avoid
particular drugs. Your doctor
should be informed if you are
taking any of the following:
1. Antidepressants such as:
• doxepin (Sinequan),
• imipramine (Tofranil),
• nortriptyline (Pamelor),
2. Sedatives such as:
• phenobarbital (Solfoton,
Luminal),
• amobarbital (Amytal),
• secobarbital (Seconal);
• phenothiazines
When you want to take Soma,
it is also important to tell
your doctor if you are taking
medications like beta-blockers.
These would include:
• acebutolol (Sectral),
• propranolol (Inderal),
• atenolol (Tenormin),
• metoprolol (Lopressor),
• carteolol (Cartrol)
While taking Soma, you should
not miss out on doses. If you
happen to miss out on a dose,
do not try and make up for it.
This will result in excess ingredients
of the medicine that increases
the chances of side effects.
You should therefore leave out
the missed dose altogether and
move on to the next dose.
