How Triphasil works?
The role
of Triphasil
Triphasil is an oral contraceptive/birth
control pill used in the prevention
of pregnancy. It can also be used
to regulate menstrual cycles and to
treat acne as well. This medication
is additionally prescribed for emergency
contraception (‘morning after’
pill). It is vital that you always
use this drug as prescribed by your
doctor. Triphasil acts primarily by
hindering the ovulation process.
This drug is made up of a combination
of estrogen and progesterone hormones
known as Ethinyl Estradiol and Levonorgestrel
respectively. These two active ingredients
prevent ovulation by thickening the
cervical mucus, making it harder for
sperm to enter the uterus, and prevents
any ova or egg from attaching itself
to the uterine wall.
It is important that you inform your
doctor about any diseases, medical
conditions or abnormalities that you
may have had or are currently facing
before using Triphasil. This drug
is to be taken orally with water and
after food consumption so that you
do not suffer from a stomach upset.
Triphasil should be taken every twenty
four hours. In case you miss out on
a dose, take it as soon as you remember.
This means that you can have two doses
in one day. However, if the elapsed
time since taking the last dose is
more than 72 hours, you are advised
to discontinue the prescription, speak
to your physician.
