   How Zyrtec Works ?


There are some people that are easily affected by allergens; their histamines are easily affected more than others. In order to control the way that allergens trigger histamines, there have been few medicines developed, such as Zyrtec, that have been able to combat them.


Zyrtec is an antihistamine, and it can reduce symptoms like a runny nose, sneezing, itchy and watery eyes. Zyrtec has been particularly useful in treating hives and allergies (uriticaria).

Zyrtec Dosage
Consuming this medicine depends on few factors that need to be taken into consideration. Some of these factors include taking into consideration one’s weight and age. Your doctor would have to determine what amount and frequency you have to take. You are not supposed to take any alcoholic substances and antidepressants, such as tranquilizers, narcotics, antihistamines along with consuming Zyrtec.

Zyrtec can be consumed without food. It may cause drowsiness for those who use it. Therefore you are advised to be cautious when driving or using heavy machinery if you are on Zyrtec; coordination, alertness, etc. tend to be down when you are on Zyrtec.

You are not supposed to stop taking Zyrtec once you are on it without a doctor’s consultation
Those who have been taking other forms of medication, should inform their doctors, as there could be interactions. You are advised not to take any medications while being treated with Zyrtec in case there are interactions.

Side Effects:
Some of the following side effects are experienced when taking Zyrtec

• difficulty breathing;
• swelling of your lips,
• tongue,
• face;
• closing of your throat;
• hives.

Few side effects that are not that serious include:

• sleepiness,
• dizziness;
• headache;
• fatigue,
• dry mouth.

Precautions Using Zyrtec
You should report these side effects to your doctor if they last longer than they should. These are supposed to be temporary, so they should not last long
You need to take precautions while using Zyrtec, and stick to the rules. Thee rules will be provided by your doctor, as s/he will be the best one to decide what you can and cannot do. There will be a particular amount you should take, and you would have to stick to it. Doses are not to be played around with. Do not miss any doses, but if you do happen to do so, do not try and make up for it. Never double dose in order to make up fop rte missed out dose. Just go to the next dose and save yourself the worry.
