Ortho Tri-Cyclen has two main
ingredients, Ethinyl Estradiol
and Norgestimate. These two
ingredients help in producing
the hormones which are similar
to the female’s sexual
hormones. These hormones which
are instigated by these ingredients
help in stopping the pregnancy
process and ovulation from taking
place.
These hormones act as a blockade
to the sperm cells that travel
through. Ortho Tri-Cyclen can
also be used for the treatment
of Acne and other abnormalities
in vaginal birth bleeding and
other problems related to the
sexual hormones in a woman.
Chemistry
The hormones that are produced
with Ethinyl Estradiol and Norgestimate
are estrogen and progesterone
which is respectively produced.
There are certain things that
one needs to know before taking
this medicine that is the medical
condition of each individual
can have adverse side effects.
A healthy person will normally
not feel any side effects, maybe
a few minor changes, which will
return to normal as soon as
the body gets used to the medication.
Dosage
There are lots of different
packages that are available
that one should consider with
the doctor or a health advisor
on which will work best for
them. Normally these are available
in three different packages
which are more commonly known
as the 21 day package and the
twenty eight day package.
To know which package is best
for you it would be ideal that
one has a discussion with her
doctor and then come up with
a suitable plan. No matter which
package you choose there is
one thing that should be kept
in mind. In both these packages
there is room for one to have
their normal menstruation.
The tablet should be consumed
with some water and normally
after a meal to reduce tummy
upsets. The medication is usually
started on a Sunday after ones
menstruation period has taken
place. The recommended time
of taking these pills is in
after the evening meals.
In case you have missed a dosage
it is suggested that one should
take it when they remember it.
This would literally mean that
the medication is to be taken
twice that day. If the dosage
has been for more than three
consecutive days a visit to
the doctor is recommended as
soon as possible. Some other
oral contraceptives should also
be taken as a precaution.
All medicines should be kept
away from children and stored
in a cool and a dry place. If
there are any medications that
are left when the medication
is expired it should be discarded.
