Chemistry
It is of vital importance that
your doctor is kept in the picture
before you take Paxil. It is
also important to pay visits
at regular intervals while taking
Paxil. If there are any symptoms
of rashes or hives, tell the
doctor right away. Paxil should
not be discontinued immediately
as withdrawal symptoms such
as chest pains, diarrhea, muscle
pain, runny nose, trembling
or shaking, vision changes or
vomiting may occur.
Paxil should not be taken
when you are taking monoamine
oxidase (MAO). One has to wait
for at least 14 days before
you can start on Paxil. If this
is not followed then symptoms
such as, sudden high body temperatures,
serotonin syndrome, etc. may
develop.
Although there has been no added
effects displayed when the medication
is taken with alcohol, the consumption
of alcohol should be stopped
while one is on Paxil. If you
work in hazardous conditions
or places where your concentration
and attention is a must (like
driving) make sure you know
how to deal with Paxil as the
medication can make you feel
drowsy, and vision changes may
also occur.
Paxil is not meant for children
under the age of eighteen. Studies
have shown that after consuming
this medicine, plans of committing
suicide are increased.
Dosage
The dosage that is prescribed
is different for every individual.
It is therefore recommended
that you follow your doctor’s
advice. You should follow the
instructions on the leaflet
if Paxil is being consumed without
the advice of a doctor.
Children under the age of eighteen
should take this medication
only on the prescription of
a doctor. In the event of one
missing a dose, then the missed
dose should be taken as soon
as it is remembered. If, by
the time you remember the missed
dose you are already close to
the next dose, you might as
well skip the missed dose and
take the next scheduled one.
