Zanaflex
Ingredients
Zanaflex is used in the relief of
pains that is caused by involuntary
muscular contraction (spasms), cramping
and tightness of muscles that is caused
by medical problems such as multiple
sclerosis or certain injuries done
to the spine. Zanaflex does not cure
these problems but helps in lessening
the pain that is caused by these medical
problems.
Zanaflex should not be used as a
supplement to the physical therapies
or treatments that has been instructed
by the doctor for you to follow. The
main ingredient that is active in
Zanaflex is called Tizanidine Hydrochloride.
This ingredient is soluble in water
and methanol the solubility of Tizanidine
Hydrochloride is lost when the pH
value increases. Tizanidine Hydrochloride
is white to an off white fine crystalline
powder which comes with a faint odor
or it is odorless.
Zanaflex comes in tablets in strengths
of 2 and 4 mg and contains the following
inactive ingredients: silicon dioxide
colloidal, stearic acid, microcrystalline
cellulose and anhydrous lactose.
The medication is only available
on the prescription by the doctor
which does not make it an over the
counter drug.
Zanaflex Chemistry
In order that you take Zanaflex you
will have to visit the doctor who
will evaluate your conditions and
see if your condition is right for
you to consume Zanaflex. At this time
you will be asked for past record
of all medical conditions and medications
that you have been taking.
This is asked as the drug can interact
with a number of drugs and can prove
Zanaflex to be less effective or even
can have adverse effects on one. These
conditions will also set what strength
of drug should you be started on and
how many you could have in a day.
Your progress in the first weeks will

During this time the strength of the
medicine could be raised or lowered
that best suits you.
While having Zanaflex all other drugs
that interact with the Central nervous
system should be stopped and if you
are allergic to the main ingredient
than this should be reported to the
doctor.
Zanaflex may cause drowsiness, dizziness,
lightheadedness, clumsiness or unsteadiness,
or vision problems in some people.
You should know how you react while
taking Zanaflex as this may prove
to be very fatal. This holds true
when you are driving or working under
conditions that are hazardous and
your full concentration is required
at all times.
Zanaflex Dosage
The medication that is prescribed
by your doctor is meant for the particular
time. If the medicine is taken for
a longer period than it was intended
it could result in increased risk
of side effects.
The dosage that is recommended normally
is 8 mg after every 6 to eight hours.
The maximum that one can have in a
day is not more than 36mg in a twenty
four hour period.
You should never double dose or overdose.
In case of a missed dose and you remember
to take it within an hour from the
missed dose time then you can take
it. Other wise it should be skipped
and the normal dose should be continued. |
